I got so caught up in this month's book of the month - Bye Beautiful by Julia Lawrinson is beautifully written. It tackles the issues of race and gender so well and I was just hooked.Did yoiu know she also has another book out called The Push? I am such a fan! And the covers of her book are ace too!

Bye Beautiful is such a truthful book, I love how everything doesn't end all "happily" because in real life things are messy

It was so sad, yet beautiful and true to the heart. I cried basically all through the last 30 pages.
I read her other book, The Push, as well. I think I might have to keep an eye out for her books :)

Oh my, such a depressing book...
Yet so readable and TRUE, considering the decade in which it was set...
Hmm...

Hi there! I am a huge fan of Julia's work too. I edited 'Bye, Beautiful', which was a big pleasure as Julia's writing is so fluid and lovely. Julia captures the sister relationship so brilliantly that I was amazed to discover that she doesn't herself have a sister, but the relationship was incredibly like the one I used to have with my sister! We had some trouble coming up with a title for the book. In the end, it was the designer, Sandy Cull, who suggested 'Bye, Beautiful' -- from a line from the text. I think title and cover work well for the book, though some people have suggested they wouldn't appeal to guys. Will be interested to see or respond to any comments.
