I just finished reading 'Jarvis 24' by Davis Metzenthen and LOVED it!!
Its one of those lighthearted but occasionaly sad books that you want to stay in your room all day reading.

Highly recommend it

in response to madster, i agree :) but mostly beacuse she agreed with me in first place.
but i forgot that i left that comment.
i also forgot that i changes my username so now its maddie, if anyone was wondering.
but yes.
i left some sugestions in the random discussion and am too lazy to retype them so give em a look will you?

and YES the book thief is amazinggggg im going to do it for my 'belonging' case study in english for the HSC.
(and now you can probably guess how old i am...and its slightly embarrassing that i still go on this site, but hey, its a great discussion right? haha)

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

I just finished 'Blood Promise,' the fourth Vampire Academy book. It was amazing!! The twist at the end is thrilling, but I honestly have no idea how I'm gonna wait until 2010 for the next V.A book to be here. I suggest everyone who is as obsessed with Richelle Mead as I am should get their hands on Blood Promise NOW!

forensic investigator by esther mckay. its amazing :P

How about The Gift by Alison Croggon? She's an amazing Australian author.

OMG. Janet Evanovich's Stephenie Plum series, starting with One for the Money. V amusing...

Matthew Reilly seven ancient wonders.....is perhaps the best book I have read in a long time, I highly recommend it you will not regret reading this book.
Also the moth diaries by Rachael Klein while not being a lighthearted read is defiantly a page turner.
These are worth reading

OMG. WE HAVE A POST. A POST. TODAY.

Teehee, my birthday was yesterday. Excitingness.

Okay, seems to me as if the majority of this site's users are romantics. With vampire fetishes.

So... go read the Morganville Vampire series or... Vampire Kisses or something. The latter isn't the most electrifyingly, excellently written, but the plot is relatively good, so check it out.

At least they're not misogynistic...

plus, great books that i hope everyone likes are On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta and the Tomorrow series by John Marsden. They're all must reads!

ok, i love all that romantic soppy stuff right so twilight is wonderful. But you can't go past Jane Austen- Pride and Prejudice is a classic!

Wait... wait... wait... I think I'm having an epiphany....

Books of the month are always published by Penguin, aren't they? Otherwise Twilight would've been up here ages ago...

HOLY FUDGE. My thoughts are somewhat logical for once...

So, as a "good read" suggestion (not BOTM...) I recommend "Bloom" or "Perfect You" by Elizabeth Scott... probably a little more suited to the gals' tastes, but...
Oh, and for mounds and mounds of gooey chick-lit, try "Little Black Dress" novels. (NB: a few of them are a bit... graphic, so watch out...)

And I need to rummage through my stash of re-readable stuff (gah! Placeholder!) for a nice, sweet, lovely, awesome Penguin book... be back soon, BTL-ers!

The Sum of all Men -- David Farland

First in the Runelords Series. Good, challenging read.

City of Bones By Cassandra Clare
First in the trilogy ,
Bloody love it !

Although, I have to say, I do find the Stephenie Meyer and Richelle Mead books utterly addictive.
I'll log out now.

I forgot to right this in my last comment; Mad is totally right, I also agree with her whole heartedly. Why do we need to be recommended books that we already know heaps of people like and have probably been recommended before due to their massively huge fan base? (I hope that no one else out there liked the books I recommended, if so, I take all responsibility for my hypocrisy).

Loads of these suggestions are fantastic books, but I have a couple that top them all. The Book Thief by Markus Zusack and Generation Dead by Daniel Waters are both brilliant novels. Although they are totally different (One is about an orphaned girl during WW2 and the other about teenage zombie romances)they each have that "I can't put this down" factor. Once you pick either of them up they will be glued to your hands until completion, trust me.

A Northern Light, Star Girl, My Sister's Keeper, The Bloody Jack Series, are all good

Lois Lowry and Jodi Picoult are awesome writers

I agree with mad about not posting the obvious

AW ! i wants to read the third book ! [:
Yeh the end of Frostbite was sad. I'm still in shock !!

Deeba, I'm reading Shadow Kiss at the moment! It's so good. Can't wait to start book 3!

I just finished reading Frostbite the second in the Vampire Academy series and towards the end i cried so much, i loved it now im trying to find Shadow Kiss(book 3).

Bianca...i just finished reading Vampire Academy ( the first in the series) OMG! Love it! I am on to the second one already, it's sooooo good. Yes would love to see it on the book blog some time.
